Understanding the different versions of Audi vehicles properly
Everyone knows that Audi is one of the most coveted brands on the market. This is as true in Quebec as it is in the rest of the country and on a global scale as well. It is easy to understand if we look at the numerous features the manufacturer offers in terms of performance, comfort, and luxury, which places each model at the top of the list of the best available vehicles of the same class. It is also reflected in the terms used in Canada to categorize the different levels of finishes offered, which are: Komfort, Progressiv and Technik. Yet these terms, used to name the different available versions for each model, can remain unclear. What do they mean, concretely? Audi Lauzon, your Audi dealership in Laval, on the North-Shore of Montreal, shares with you here all the necessary details for you to understand more clearly what each one offers.
The Audi Komfort models: the purest expression of luxury in Ingolstadt.
Let’s begin with the Komfort models. We’ll start by looking at what the term means. It is quite simple: the German word “Komfort” translates into “Comfort” in English. Even if the spelling is different, the definition is the same, which makes the term easily understandable as much in English as it is in French, while remaining loyal to its Germanic origins. Audi thus manages to convey the level of quality for the finishes while also translating their idea of German comfort. Smart!
Essentially, Komfort models are Audi’s entry level models. What the Komfort version truly represents is what to expect in terms of the level of quality that comes standard with Audi vehicles, no matter the selected model. Even as Audi’s menial models, they have nothing to do with the idea of “discount” models. They simply represent what Audi deems as essential to comfort and stays true to the high-end brand. This is most evident in all of the added equipment and cutting-edge technology aboard.
Let’s take the 2022 Audi Q3 Komfort as an example: it comes standard with LED taillights, 17- inch rims (on the 40 TFSI model) or 18- inch rims (with the 45 TSFI engine), a power remote trunk and heated exterior mirrors.
The interior matches the expected high standards: heated front seats, leather upholstery, automatic dual-zone climate control, panoramic roof, an 8.8- inch interface tactile screen and a 10- speaker audio system. In other words, you will have access to everything you need to travel in the highest levels of comfort, in and around the Laval area!

the Audi Progressiv finishes: a mid-range model filled with ultra-modern technologies
Second level of finishes: the Progressiv models. Here again “Progressiv” in German is synonym with “Progressive” in English. The idea expressed in the name given to these versions is very clear: it is a version offering an extra level of equipment which is a step above from the Komfort models.
This is clear when it comes to the 2022 Q5 Progressiv model. It is also explicitly stated on Audi.ca that all of the equipment that comes with in the Audi Q5 Progressiv includes all the equipment from the Komfort version on top of the added ones from the Progressiv versions. Standard with this compact premium SUV you will find adaptive headlights, 19- inch rims and an S Line exterior wing.
The interior is also richer: in includes a power remote sunroof, a heated steering wheel and a 100% digital dashboard, on top of rear transversal traffic surveillance. All of these features are added to the base features that come with the Q5 Komfort version.
All the added features logically justify higher prices for the Progressiv models. When it comes to the Progressiv version of the 2022 Audi Q5, the base price is $54 100. In regard to the Komfort version, prices start at $47 500.

The Technik models: the cream of the crop in terms of Audi know-how and luxury cars
We have saved the best for last: the Audi Technik versions. They represent what Audi does best in terms of premium vehicles, as much in terms of technology as comfort. Just like the Progressiv vs Komfort versions, the Technik versions start with every equipment included in the Progressiv version and adds more equipment and sophistication to it.
In the case of, for example, the 2022 A3 Technik sedan, the small Audi offers grand equipment: an Audi Virtual Cockpit dashboard with a 12.3- inch screen, intelligent LED lights, a memory function electric driver’s seat and a Bang & Olufsen sound system. The 2022 Audi A3 offers, in this ultimate version, cutting-edge innovations, which often meets and sometimes surpasses what is actually being offered in even higher-end vehicles.

Of course, the more added equipment and higher-end technology you find, the higher the price. In the case of 2022 Audi A3 Technik, prices start at $45 600 compared to $42 100 for the Progressiv and $38 900 for the Audi A3 Komfort. This increase in price is widely justified by the A3 Technik equipment mentioned above.
Finally, it is important to state that Audi considers of the greatest importance that sales prices match the equipment and technology aboard, so that customers know the expense is justified. You should also know that this is not the case for all luxury cars! This is why, sometimes some of the levels of finishes are not offered at all. This is the case for the 2022 Audi e-tron, available only in the Progressiv and Technik versions. Since prices for these are $86 600 and $95 000 respectively, we can easily understand this decision.
